Frequently Asked Questions

I've never used a blow gun. Can I still compete?

Absolutely. Every competitor gets a coached warm-up before round one. The first-timer division is designed for exactly this — the goal is fun and focus, not prior experience.

What's the minimum age?

Competitors must be at least 7 years old, or have instructor approval if younger. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian to sign the waiver.

How do I know if I qualify for the $25 returning rate?

If you've competed in a past PMMA Blow Gun Tournament, select 'Returning Competitor' on the registration form. It's an honor-system field — we trust our students.

What should I wear?

Comfortable athletic clothing. No special uniform required.

Is equipment provided?

Yes. PMMA provides blow guns, darts, eye protection, and all targets. Just show up ready to compete.

Can I pay at the door?

Yes — choose 'Pay In Person' on the registration form and bring cash or card to the front desk on the night of the tournament.

Liability Waiver & Release of Claims

Required

Please read this waiver carefully. By typing your name and checking the box below, you are signing this document electronically and agreeing to its terms. This waiver is required of every participant before the seminar begins.

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that participation in a self-defense seminar at Personal Mastery Martial Arts ("PMMA") involves vigorous physical activity, partner contact drills, falls, strikes, blocks, joint manipulation, and similar techniques. I voluntarily assume all risks of injury, including but not limited to bruises, sprains, fractures, concussions, and other injuries that may result from such activities, whether caused by my own actions, the actions of another participant, or otherwise.

2. Medical Acknowledgement

I represent that I am in good physical health and have no medical condition, injury, or impairment that would make participation unsafe. I have consulted with a physician if I have any doubt about my fitness to participate. I authorize PMMA staff to summon medical assistance on my behalf if needed, and I accept full financial responsibility for any resulting medical care. I release PMMA from any duty to provide medical treatment beyond reasonable first aid.

3. Release & Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Utah law, I hereby release, waive, and forever discharge Personal Mastery Martial Arts, its owners, instructors, employees, agents, volunteers, and the owner of the premises (collectively the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury (including death) sustained by me while participating in this seminar, whether caused by the negligence of the Released Parties or otherwise. I understand this is a complete release of liability.

4. Indemnification

I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, losses, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) brought by me, my heirs, or any third party arising out of my participation in the seminar, except to the extent caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of the Released Parties.

5. Photo & Video Release (Optional)

PMMA may take photographs or video during the seminar for marketing, social media, and promotional use. Granting permission is OPTIONAL — you can attend without consenting. If you check the optional box below, you grant PMMA a perpetual, royalty-free license to use your likeness in such materials. If you do not check the box, PMMA will make reasonable efforts to keep your likeness out of published materials.

6. Minor Participants

If the participant is under 18 years of age, this waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian on the minor's behalf. The signing parent or guardian represents that they have legal authority to bind the minor and accepts all terms of this waiver for and on behalf of the minor participant. The guardian's typed name and stated relationship below serve as the electronic signature for the minor.

I have read and understood this waiver in full. I acknowledge that I am signing it freely and voluntarily, that no oral representations have been made to me, and that this is a binding legal document. I am at least 18 years old (or am the parent/legal guardian of the minor participant named above).

Your typed signature must match the participant name (or guardian name, if applicable).

How would you like to pay?

By submitting this form you confirm you have read and agreed to the liability waiver above. Your typed name acts as your electronic signature under Utah Code 46-4.
